On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the City of Virginia Beach will close Virginia Beach Boulevard at Cypress Avenue for a long-term construction project. The Routes 20, 33, and 960 will operate on a detour until further notice. Customers needing board/disembark for the Routes 20 and 960 must go the 19th & Parks lineup (adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center). Customers may also see delays due to traffic.

No HRT Service on 01/25/2026 due to weather

On Saturday, January 24, in anticipation of adverse weather conditions, most HRT services will end early. Bus service will begin to wind down much earlier than normal. Transit center information booths and public access to all administrative facilities will be closed. The Customer Service Call Center will close at 8:00 PM.
On Sunday, January 25, due to the inclement weather, all HRT services will be suspended. Transit center information booths, public access to all administrative facilities and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed.
On Monday, January 26, HRTwill implement its Snow Route Plan. HRT will provide hourly bus service on designated routes from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM. Some regular routes will not run.
