Due to Road Work(El Cajon Pipeline Project), Route 864 Eastbound and Westbound will be on a detour and have multiple bus stop closures starting Monday, May 04, 2026 through Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 8am to 3:30pm. The direction and affected bus stops are listed below.

Route 3 Stop Closure at Ocean View Bl & 36th St Stop ID: 10949 due to Construction 5/26/26-06/05/26 24HRS. Passengers are advised to make connections at MTS temporary bus stop (A-Frame) at the north side of the intersection.
Due to the annual Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on Sunday, May 31st, there will be major service interruptions in the Downtown, Uptown (Hillcrest, Bankers Hill, University Heights), North Park, Normal Heights, Morena, Linda Vista, Bay Park and Mission Valley communities. The following MTS bus routes will be impacted:

Due to Construction, Route 848 Southbound will have a Bus Stop Closure at Woodside Ave & Los Coches Rd Stop(ID #40322) on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 through Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 from 9am to 4pm. Operators have been advised to inform passengers to make connections at Woodside Ave & Channel Rd Stop(ID #40321.)

Route 3 Stop Closure at 5th Av between Brookes Ave & Pennsylvania Ave due to Construction 4/20/26-7/31/26.. Passengers are advised to make connections at 5th @ Upas (ID# 12773) or 5th @ University (ID# 12431)
Route 3 Stop Closure at 25th St & Imperial Av due to Construction 5/29/26- 7/29/26 24HRS. Passengers are advised to make connections at Ocean View Bl & Commercial St Stop ID: 10516.
Due to construction, the Route 3 stop toward UCSD located at Washington St & 3rd Ave (Stop #11236) will be temporarily closed from March 5, 2026, to March 5, 2028 (24 hours/day).
Passengers are advised to use the nearby stop at Washington St & 5th Ave (Stop #11243) for continued service.
Due to construction, the following Route 3 bus stops will be temporarily closed on weekdays only from June 6, 2025, through July 31, 2026, between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the following trips will not run on Route 3 today. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience:

Entire trip(s) departing from UCSD Hospital: 7:50a, 11:04a
Due to construction and closure on 5th Ave @ Brookes, northbound Route 3 & 120 will be detouring around this activity 4/20/26 - 6/8/26 (Mon - Fri Only) from
6:30am - 4pm each day. While on detour, Route 3 will not be able to service the bus stops on 5th @ Brookes (ID# 12429) or 5th @ Pennsylvania (ID# 12432). Passengers will be able to connect with the Route 3 at the stops on 5th @ Upas (ID# 12773) or 5th @ University (ID# 12431) in lieu of those stops.
Route 120 will not be missing any stops while on this detour.
Due to construction at East County Square Walmart, stop 41158 will be temporarily closed 24 hours a day 7 days a week beginning June 1, 2026 through October 1, 2026. An A-Frame has been placed in front of the Dollar Tree at East County Square where passengers can board Route 838.
Due to the Classic Car Show 5th Ave will be closed between Pennsylvania and Evans Pl. The northbound routes 3 & 120 will be on detour on Saturday 6/20 from 11:30am-4:00pm. The route 3 bus stops on 5th Ave at Brookes Ave (#12429) and 5th Ave at Pennsylvania Ave (#12432) will be closed during the event, route 120 will not miss any stops. Passengers are advised to board the routes 3 & 120 at 5th Ave at Upas St (#12773) or 5th Ave at University Ave (#12430).
