On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the City of Virginia Beach will hold the Stars & Stripes Celebration at the oceanfront starting at 7:00PM. Because large crowds are expected, customers using the Routes 20, 30, 31, 33, 35, and 960 are advised to expect heavy delays and impromptu detours.
On Friday, July 3, 2026, bus, light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing will operate on a Saturday schedule. The ferry will operate on its regular schedule. The Customer Service Call Center, transit center information booths and public access to all administrative facilities (ID badge, Lost & Found, etc.) will be closed.
On Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2026, bus, light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing will operate on their Saturday schedule. The ferry will operate on its regular schedule. The Customer Service Call Center will be open 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
