Virginia Beach Boulevard and Cypress Construction Started Thu Dec 18 2025 Until Tue Jun 24 2104
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the City of Virginia Beach will close Virginia Beach Boulevard at Cypress Avenue for a long-term construction project. The Routes 20, 33, and 960 will operate on a detour until further notice. Customers needing board/disembark for the Routes 20 and 960 must go the 19th & Parks lineup (adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center). Customers may also see delays due to traffic.

Labor Day Started Fri Aug 7 Until Tue Sep 8
On Labor Day, Hampton Roads Transit bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, OnDemand ridesharing services, and paratransit will operate on a Saturday schedule. Labor Day will also be the final day for the summer ferry and full VB Wave schedule. After Labor Day, the ferry will change to its Winter schedule, and the VB Wave will switch to post-summer service operating through September 27, 2026. Transit center customer service booths and public access to all administrative facilities (ID card, Lost and Found, etc.) will be closed. The Customer Service Call Center will be available from 9 AM - 4 PM.
East Coast Surfing Championship Started Mon Aug 17 Until Mon Aug 31
The City of Virginia Beach is holding the East Coast Surfing Championship at the oceanfront, August 25-30, 2026. While no road closures are expected, customers can expect to see delays with all routes servicing the oceanfront due to increased traffic.
