Starting on Sunday, January 4, 2026 until May 2026, there will be construction on Olney Rd between Children's Ln and Colley Ave that will impact service to Norfolk General Hospital on the Routes 2, Route 23, and Route 44. Stop 0432 at Colley Ave & Raleigh will not be serviced by Route 2 and 23 during this detour.

On Saturday, April 25, Old Dominion University will host the Big Blue 5K. Due to various road closures around the campus, the Route 4 will detour from the start of service until approximately 11:00 AM. The Route 2 will not detour, but customers should expect delays due to event traffic.

Ride Transit for Free on Earth Day Started Tue Mar 24 Until Thu Apr 23
Hampton Roads Transit is again offering free fares for everyone to commemorate Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22.

Free rides will be available all day on HRT’s bus, light rail, ferry, Paratransit and OnDemand Rideshare services.

“Earth Day is a great way for Hampton Roads residents to try transit at no cost,” said William E. Harrell, President and CEO. “Free travel on Earth Day is a way to thank our customers while encouraging new riders to leave their vehicles behind and try transit, especially with rising gas prices.”
