Juneteenth Holiday and Sail 250 Started Mon Jun 1 Until Mon Jun 22
On Friday, June 19, 2026, Hampton Roads Transit will commemorate the federal holiday, Juneteenth, by offering free fares on all modes of transit (buses, light rail, ferry, paratransit and OnDemand ridesharing).

Hampton Roads Transit bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, ridesharing services, and paratransit will operate on their Saturday schedules. The Elizabeth River Ferry will continue operating on its regular weekday schedule. Transit center information booths and public access to all administrative facilities (ID badge, Lost & Found, etc.) will be closed. HRT’s Customer Service Call Center will be available from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Additionally, on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, in partnership with the City of Norfolk, free travel will be available on The Tide light rail and the Elizabeth River Ferry for Sail250 Virginia, the 50th anniversary of Harborfest, and the High Street Festival in Portsmouth.
Point Break Music Festival Started Until Mon Jun 22
The City of Virginia Beach will host the Point Break Music Festival June 20-21, 2026, at the oceanfront. Due to road closures, the VB Wave routes 30 and 31 will detour June 19 - June 22, using 3rd Street after the lineup at the Rudee Loop. Customers should also expect delays with all routes servicing the oceanfront due to heavy traffic.
